History Museum On the Square
The History Museum on the Square is committed to building and preserving an extensive collection of historical documents and artifacts, as we share stories of the crossroads to engage, educate, and inspire our diverse audience. We strengthen our community’s future by learning about our past and our culture.
Originally established in 1976, the museum opened its new facility on August 8, 2019. Located in the former Barth's department store building and the building adjacent, the museum has more than 18,000 square feet of space.
There are five floors with eight exhibit galleries, including a Welcome Center, six permanent galleries, and the traveling exhibit space. The renovated basement houses staff offices, enlarged workrooms, and a break room for staff, volunteers, and interns.
