History comes to life at the History Museum on the Square. The mission of the History Museum on the Square is to strengthen our community's future by learning about our past and our culture. Students and youth are an important part of this mission. The museum offers field trips, interactive presentations, and engaging experiences in your classroom or elsewhere that help students connect with local and state history. Field trips and outreach opportunities align with Missouri learning standards to aid teachers and build on traditional learning.
If you are a Missouri K-12 educator and want to explore the museum before booking a Field Trip, Education Trunk or Education Presentation, bring in your School ID and you will receive free admission to the History Museum on the Square!
Bring your class, homeschool group, or youth group to the History Museum on the Square for a vibrant learning journey through Springfield’s history. These self-guided visits through the museum allow groups to move at their own pace through the different exhibits in the museum. Groups can explore the interactive galleries and play games that provide a glimpse into what life was like in the past.
Rent one of our Education Trunks for a hands-on experience using reproduction items, primary resources, pictures, and other learning aids. Museum educators are also available to lead your group in a hands-on experience featuring tactile learning aids and replica artifacts. Education Trunks and Presentations reflect Missouri learning standards and are enjoyed by all age levels.
