History Museum Hosts Sensory Friendly Morning

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The History Museum on the Square will be hosting its first Sensory Friendly Morning on Wednesday, July 29 from 10am-12pm. This event that is designed to be less sensory stimulating and overwhelming than a typical visit to the Museum. During this time frame, lights in the Museum will be dimmer, sound will be quieter, and quiet spaces will be available in the museum. The Museum will also provide sensory maps and social stories to prepare guests for their visit.

“We are so excited to offer this opportunity to our guests who need a sensory friendly environment to enjoy the museum. We strive to be welcoming to all in our community,” said Katie Schoorl, guest experience manager.

History Museum on the Square is located at 154 Park Central Square in Springfield, Missouri and was named the 2019 #1 Best New Attraction in the Country by readers of USA TODAY. Admission rates for the museum are $16 for adults; $13 for seniors (65-plus), students of any age with a valid ID, and members of the military their families; $10 for children ages 4-12; and free to those under the age of three. The Museum is open Wednesday from 10 am to 5 pm, Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm, Friday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm.
