History Museum Hosts Women’s History Tours
SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— History Museum on the Square will be hosting women’s history tours on each Saturday in March at 2 pm in honor of Women’s History Month. A tour with a complimentary glass of wine will also be offered on Thursday, March 19th from 5 pm to 7 pm as part of our Third Thursday program. These events are included with regular admission and free to Museum members.
The docent-led tours will feature a variety of women, including Mohongo of the Osage Nation, formerly enslaved person Milly Sawyers, early Springfield settler Louisa Cheairs Campbell, legendary frontierswoman Calamity Jane, photographer Betty Love, and Alberta Northcutt Ellis, whose business was listed in the Green Book.
The museum’s Third Thursday program allows visitors to experience the museum after normal business hours. On the third Thursday of each month, the museum remains open until 7 pm. Regular admission rates apply. Members are free.
