The Education Trunk Program provides local students and community groups an opportunity to experience Springfield and Greene County history through hands-on artifacts and reproductions, primary source material, and other learning aids. Currently the History Museum on the Square has seven trunks available for rent. In each trunk, specific points of Springfield and Greene County history are interspersed with a general social or cultural history of the time and are interpreted with the help of reproduction photographs and objects, and actual artifacts (may include clothing, household items, school items, toys, etc.).
Education Trunk Rental (3 days)
Rental Extension (per day)
Education Presentations are led by museum educators bringing Education Trunks to presentation locations. Presentations take place in a “show and tell” format with items passed among participants or set out for handling after the presentation. The contents of the Education Trunks help the museum educator make history “come alive” for the participants. Presentations last about 45 minutes.
If you are interested in a custom presentations topic, please indicate "other" on the theme selection below and describe what topic you are interested in.
